Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a millenary practice based on the corollary that energy (also called CHI) circulates in our bodies through energetic highways and roads called primarily Principal Meridians or channels. This energy should be balanced, also known as Yin and Yang. If the energy is not balanced, it is then that illness appears. So, if we help the body regaining its equilibrium, we would be healing the body.
I am trained in Japanese acupuncture based on Kiiko Matsumoto’s method at Harvard University, and Chinese acupuncture at the Helms Institute, but for many years I wasn’t able to practice it because I was involved in corporate medicine and the system would not facilitate this practice in such environment.
When I decided to start my own practice, I began to review and practice with patients without the corporate medicine constrains.
Many people are terrified of needles. Although a puncture is not always painless, the thin acupuncture needles applied with proper technique can make a puncture almost painless.
Although acupuncture is mainly known for its use in chronic pain, we can treat a myriad of illnesses with acupuncture.
Studies have been made in an attempt to prove the efficacy of acupuncture with inconsistent results. As with any other medical approach, acupuncture can yield outstanding responses, partial responses, or absent benefits.
According to my experience with patients and myself as a patient, there’s undeniably, a phenomenon that occurs with acupuncture. Blood pressure may become low to the point that patients experience tiredness and dizziness; patients experience relaxation, and also energy boosts.
Yes, although the basics of acupuncture are standard, the practice of it entitles clinical judgment intrinsic in the common-sensical approach of a medical practitioner.
I use acupuncture as another ingrained tool that has psychoanalytical implications. The mind and body have a tight connection and one affects the other in powerful ways.

With all knowledge, every day is an opportunity to learn. I continue to learn not only traditional medicine, but also acupuncture and the ability to mix both of them is invaluable to help patients regain their health.
There are at least twenty energetic subsystems that we can use in acupuncture. And part of these subsystems is Auricular Acupuncture (needles in the ear)
